Local Formation Director, the St. Phoebe School
Sarah is a blended vocational priest and professor serving as Canon for Vocations and Clergy Wellness in the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia.
Sarah has been serving as the Formation Director for the St. Phoebe School for Deacons in 2018, and this rolecontinues to be a vital part of her diocesan ministry portfolio. As local formation director, she focuses on facilitating programming which prepares deacons in formation liturgically, practically and spiritually. She also serves as a “bridge” to CDSP’s academic programs. In addition to St. Phoebe School, she supports the Bishop of Virginia in the canonical oversight of those preparing for ordained ministry as deacons and priests as well as Title IV processes in the diocese.
Sarah is 2018 graduate of the low-residency MDiv program at Church Divinity School of the Pacific. She earned her PhD in 2005 from Washington University in St. Louis and served on the faculty of Virginia Commonwealth University School of Social Work from 2006 – 2022. She previously served as the St. Margaret’s Visiting Professor of Women in Ministry at CDSP and continues to serve as adjunct faculty member with CALL.
